The wait is finally over! Gross Domestic Product starts tomorrow night and is featuring 19 of Iowa’s hottest bands. We finish off our series of interview with the three bands headlining at the Vaudeville Mews late show. Enjoy the show, guys.

Wolves in the Attic — 9:35-10:10pm

Band Bombshell: Give us one reason playing GDP is so cool.

Wolves in the Attic (Trent Derby):  Playing GDP is cool because you get to do it alongside so many other Iowa bands/artists. Its a fun showcase of some of the best music coming out of Iowa, across many genres, so its a great way to hear what other Iowa musicians are up to.

BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?

WIA: I’m really excited for House of Large Sizes. I saw them play in Newton, IA, at “Bowlapalooza” when I was just starting to play drums, probably in the neighborhood of 15 years ago. So to be able to share the stage with them this time around is fun. The Wheelers are also playing that show, which makes it even better!

BB: What are your upcoming music plans?

WIA: Our upcoming music plans are exciting! We’re in a good spot right now, playing some shows and focusing on writing new music. We’ve been writing as a three-piece now, and things are moving along well. We plan to record a full length sometime this summer, and hope to play some more regional shows in support of the new music.

The Wheelers — 10:25-11:00pm

Band Bombshell: Give us one reason playing GDP is so cool.

The Wheelers (Greg): Iowa is home to one of the most diverse musical climates in the United States right now and GDP is a great representation of that.

BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?

W: Well, I am the most excited to see House of Large Sizes, because they are my Iowa rock and roll heroes. “Glass Cockpit” is probably the best album in the history of Iowa. Besides them, I’d say I am really excited to see my fellow Wheeler’s Jordan and Phil play with their other projects. Phil will be playing bass in Annalibera and Jordan will be performing with his outfit, The Thermal Detonators. I haven’t seen Annalibera yet, so I am curious to see what that is all about. Jordan is such an incredible musician and Thermal Detonators is my favorite project of his. Jordan sounds the most comfortable behind a keyboard.

BB: What are your upcoming music plans?

W: We will be releasing our new album on Maximum Ames Records this June and going out on the road in support of that for a little bit.

House of Large Sizes — 11:30-1:30pm

Band Bombshell: Give us one reason playing GDP is so cool.

House of Large Sizes: A show like GDP tells a story. HOLS is a part of something bigger. We weren’t the first, just a link in a chain of progressive, original Iowa punk, pop, rock and roll. Knowing that makes us feel good. Something we want to be a part of and support. Des Moines is, in a lot of ways, a second home to us, you know?

BB: Which other GDP performer are you dying to see?

HOLS: All of ’em. We don’t get out as much as we used to.

BB: What are your upcoming music plans?

HOLS: Play some shows. Reconnect with some people we haven’t seen as much as we would like to. Have fun. Jump around a bit. Maybe put out an EP of new songs. We’ll see.
