Preview: Camp Euforia

Never heard of Camp Euforia? Neither had I (unfortunately). But for the sake of music and all that is holy, get familiar with the name. And for those of you who know of the 2-day festival, I’d be willing to bet that you agree.

What it is: An 18+ (or all-ages if you’re under 18 and bring an adult) friendly 2-day festival (hosted by Cornfed Productions, LLC) full of funk that takes place on a farm just outside of Iowa City in Lone Tree, Iowa. It all started out in 2004 as a Eufórquestra fan appreciation party. And 10 years later, the focus is still on this funk-infused-reggae headliner. Since then, 23 acts have been added to the line-up. Eufórquestra, an Iowa City born sextet, made the move to Colorado in 2008 and has had success spreading their rhythmic mix of sound. They’ve been classified under a number of genres: Afrobeat, reggae, funk, Soukous (a style of African dance music), Soca, and Dub, among others. Their songs include fun story-telling and a horn backing that will have you shaking your hips all over the place. The bands that will join Eufórquestra are all of the same “perfect summertime jams” vibe.

When is it: July 12 & 13, 2013

Tickets: Early bird tickets will be available through MidwestTix on March 29 & 30. These tickets will sell for $65 to get into both days of the festival. After the early bird ticket sales, prices are as follows: March 31-April 27, $75; April 28-July 11, $85; and July 12-13, $100.

The line-up: For an updated version of the line-up, check here. There are also descriptions of all of the acts. Some acts include That 1 Guy, Greensky Bluegrass, Dumpstaphunk, The Pimps of Joytime, and Pert Near Sandstone.
