Maximum Ames Music Festival

We hear about it all of the time and some of Des Moines’ best bands are covered under their label (Christopher the Conquered, Poison Control Center, and Derek Lambert and the Prairie Fires to name a few). But what is Maximum Ames all about? Record label, yearly music festival, super secret society, or super hero? I’d say all of the above.

Secret society or not, we can welcome their annual music extravaganza this September 20-23. Four days (and 130+ bands) of grassroots Iowa artists mixed with internationally known names. The four-day presale passes may be sold out, but you still have time to grab tickets. All Festival passes are going for $100 and Saturday/Sunday passes are being sold for $60. Snag your tickets here. These tickets will get you into any of the shows going on throughout the entire festival (for All Festival pass holders) or any show going on Saturday and Sunday (Saturday/Sunday pass holders). Don’t worry–if you end up stopping by without a pass, there’s a cash cover charge for all shows for non-pass attendees. Aside from the main line-up, you can check out shows from Jeff Magnum w/The Music Tapes and Poison Control Center on Saturday at 7pm for $36 or $38 at the door. On Friday, check out Wanda Jackson at 7pm.  Tickets are $20 presale or $20 at the door.

Take a gander at the line-up here. It’s crazy huge and aims to please.

Who are you most excited to see? Comment and let me know–I’m starting to make my must-see list early.
